Tracy Walker for St. Anthony Messenger

Tracy Walker illustrated this piece for an article entitled “Blood of Life” which appeared in the July 2012 issue of St. Anthony Messenger, art directed by Jeanne Kortekamp. The story is about a woman with leukemia whose life is saved by her newborn baby’s umbilical cord stem cells. With her delicate and yet graphic approach, Tracy weaves the story in a conceptual manner where colors, textures and symbols all speak to this very poignant story.

Tracy Walker: Illustrators Unlimited

i2i art is honored to announce that Tracy Walker's work is featured in the new publication, Illustrators Unlimited, a collection of international contemporary illustrators.  Gestalten (the publisher) says, "In recent years, illustration has evolved from a purely service-oriented trade to an expressive, poetic, and esteemed voice in contemporary visual culture".  The book can be browsed and purchased on the Gestalten site.  It will also be available through Indigo and Amazon (fall 2011).  To see more of Tracy Walker's illustration go here.

Leap into the Lunar New Year with stamps illustrated by Tracy Walker

Canada Post has released the next in their popular Lunar New Year stamp series.  Tracy Walker illustrated this elegant rabbit to celebrate the Chinese year of the metal rabbit. Embossed foil stamping was used on the stamps as a reference to the "metal" element of this Year of the Rabbit. For more information about the stamp and the traits of the Year of the Rabbit, pick up a free copy of Details magazine from Canada Post. This year should feel more peaceful than the previous Year of the Tiger.  The Year of the Rabbit will begin February 3, 2011, but these stamps might sell out before then - so hop on down to the post office today!

Design by Paul Haslip and Lauren Rand of HM&E Design Communications.

Tracy Walker's Unplugged Studio

Tracy Walker "unplugs" in warm weather and retreats to her backyard studio for some painting, sketching and contemplation. The studio was built with reclaimed materials from Habitat for Humanity, the local junkyard and neighbours (and still looks more design magazine worthy than my house). With our world becoming so "plugged in" (the "electronic cottage" Alvin Toffler predicted in his book Third Wave), it's important to find the balance and return to the tactile and physical world from time to time. Luckily, the virtual workplace seems to be allowing more of us to find that work/life balance. With the lush, serene surroundings of Tracy's studio and garden, we can understand from where Tracy gets her inspiration.

The metal sculpture is from made from "reclaimed" materials as well - from an African Artist Co-op

Inspiration!
