Illustrator Katy Dockrill Photo

Katy was born in Toronto, the daughter of elementary school teachers. She’s lived in different neighbourhoods in the city, from Baby Point, to Little Italy and currently Leslieville. She studied at the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD U) and learnt everything from figure drawing with Paul Young, to mixed media with Linda Montgomery, photography with Barbara Astman, typography with Ann Cooper, design, and conceptual illustration with Jerzy Kolacz. Katy graduated with honours, made prints of her portfolio, and hustled her way into meeting Art Directors and cold-called editorial departments for work. With years of experience using traditional media, she’s merged her skills and creates most of her work digitally. She lives with her biggest supporter and creative partner Jay, their teen daughter, and a cat named Kitty.
